When you trust Jesus as your Savior and commit to giving control of your life to Him, baptism is the next step of obedience.
In Matthew 3:13-17, Jesus was baptized. Baptism is a symbol of your old self dying (going under the water) and the new you being raised to a new life (coming up out of the water) by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was strong enough to raise Jesus from the dead. After your decision to trust Jesus as your Savior, you have that same life-changing power inside you (Ephesians 1:19).
Baptism is an exciting and powerful symbol of your commitment to follow Jesus.
